Hugging It Out

These two have been separated for a couple of weeks now with various flu and strep bugs floating through the neighborhood. We couldn’t keep them off of each other this morning.

All By Herself

Maia has really taken charge of her potty training the last two days. She’s been doing well, but as of yesterday afternoon to today she’s been running to use the potty herself. Today she ran to the top of the stairs after she’d successfully used the potty, flushed and washed her hands! Mom and Dad are still needed to wipe here and there otherwise she's got it covered. I even heard Maia tell Josie later in the day “Josie, I poop in the potty.” We are very proud of our big girl!

Timbuktu

Yep, you read that right. Timbuktu. It's on one of the last pages of Dr. Seuss's Hop On Pop which we've read to Maia several times. So many times in fact she recites different pages at various times of the day. It's funny to hear them get mixed into other parts of her day too. She usually has a running dialogue of stories involving Christmas characters, Clifford or Bolt escaping from monsters or elves mostly ending with everyone fleeing to Timbuktu. Timbuktu could be a far away place in space for all she knows, but it's pretty cute all the same.

A Balmy 45 Degrees

With blue skies, mild temperatures and snow in the forecast for Friday we took time out today for a walk.

 

Big Girl’s Wear Underpants Everywhere

Today Maia and I went to the library for two whole hours and I'm thrilled to say she wore her underpants! We've gone out once or twice since starting the training always dressing her in a pull-up, but not today. Of course my bag was filled with extras supplies just in case the situation changed. At the library she played, she ran around, she cooked, she read books and then she used the potty before we checked out books. She did it! She's such a big girl and we're very proud of her huge accomplishment.

No Sugar Bugs

Yesterday Maia had an appointment with the dentist. She was brave enough to let the hygienist clean her teeth with a rotary brush, take sips of water from the squirt tool and let the dentist finish the exam. No cavities or sugar bugs as they called them on her pearly whites. We brushed the chompers on their stuffed pig with teeth a few times then left. Nice.
